Education for Ministry: EfM is a four-year program of lay theological education by extension offered by the School of Theology of The University of the South, Sewanee, Tennessee. Students register for one year at a time each spring or summer, for each nine-month academic year, which goes September through May. Annual tuition is $350. Year One students study Old Testament; Year Two, New Testament; Year Three, Church History; and Year Four, Theological Choices. The setting is the seminar group of six to twelve students, meeting once a week for two-and-a-half to three hours under the leadership of mentors trained and licensed by Sewanee. Seminars are offered locally at St. Andrew’s (Monday evenings) and Holy Nativity (Wednesday afternoons and Wednesday evenings) by mentors Fr. Tom Weller and Ray Wishart; all groups have openings available for new students, and if any area parish has folks who are interested, we could offer additional seminars at other local Episcopal churches with the priest’s consent. For more information, please contact Fr. Tom at 850-785-8417 or twellerpc@knology.net, or speak to an EfM group member whom you know.
